1. Listening
I know I have talked about active listening a lot of times but this is one of the most important elements of communication.
As a leader, you must be able to listen to what is said and to non-verbal cues.
Listen to understand the other person, and show that you are listening.  Check my feed on Instagram for more on listening.

2. Empathy
Being empathetic means that you are able to identify and understand others' emotions i.e. imagining yourself in someone else's position. Being empathetic shows your team that you care.
For you to show Empathy, you must be an active listener and observer. Remember that your employees are people with real lives, facing real struggles, so be observant, be understanding but be professional.

3. Collaboration and delegation
You should delegate tasks to employees and be clear on what is expected of them. Be clear and use simple wording when delegating tasks. When delegating, also ensure you find out what employees need to be successful at the task. When you delegate tasks, it makes employees feel like collaborators and contributors to the "big picture". It also helps strengthen the trust and relationship between you and the employee.
When you delegate, give employees the room to spread their wings on that task. DO NOT MICROMANAGE THEM!
